Thousands of gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual and straight men and women marched in Washington DC for the National Equality March. Sadly, this event got little coverage from the news, even though thousands of people--including Lady Gaga-- were marching. Lady Gaga is an avid supporter of the LGBT community.
It's important for celebrities to support a cause. Sometimes it's for their image, and sometimes they legitimately have a personal interest in the cause. In Lady Gaga's case, she can relate to this cause. Gaga herself is openly bisexual and is rumored to have both male and female parts.
Lady Gaga is passionate about this cause and her LGBT fans. She shows how passionate she is about the issue by giving a speech in DC. At some points during the speech, she's so passionate she screams during the speech.
Is this another publicity stunt since Gaga will soon rerelease "The Fame?" Is this just something else to boost her image, or does she legitimately care? So many artists find a cause and join so they can look like the "good guy" that helps all the little children. They show up, have their picture taken, and leave. It seems like a trend in Hollywood to adopt children from Africa, or from some other exotic country rather than adopting kids in the US that need a family.
So, is this the same thing? Another publicity stunt? Since Lady Gaga gets publicity just for the outfits she wears day to day, it's probable that she legitimately cares about this cause. She has the publicity, and she is using it to shine the spotlight on something bigger than herself. But did it work? There was so little press coverage so it's doubtful that her efforts were effective.

She's not the best speaker, but it gave me goosebumps when she screamed "Are you listening?"
Its sad that she got more publicity from a tabloid inspired crotch shot than she will ever get for this.
